Shanti is a master’s student of Community and Regional Planning in Water and Public Engagement and in the Justice Institute of British Columbia’s Mediation and Third-Party Intervention Certificate program. She is a graduate of Simon Fraser University (B.A in Philosophy and Sustainable Development). Shanti is interested in attitudes toward water and public engagement strategies. Specifically, Shanti is interested in learning how to build community around water to ensure sustainable water practices in her home region of the Sunshine Coast, British Columbia.
Her research project, in collaboration with the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) and funded by CRSM – SSHRC, looks at how aspects of identity are related to community members’ awareness of water scarcity and trust for regional water conservation projects. |
