Laurel Eyton | Master’s Student

Laurel is a graduate student at the School of Community and Regional Planning (SCARP) at UBC, specializing in Environmental Planning. Growing up in New Westminster, Laurel was fascinated by local history and how previous land use decisions led to the current landscape. Laurel completed a Bachelor of Science in Physical Geography at Simon Fraser University, focusing on fluvial geomorphology. In her time since graduating from SFU, Laurel has been working for the BC Provincial Government in Water Management, First Nations Consultation, and Agricultural Land Use Planning. Laurel is interested in watershed governance strategies and intends to focus her work with the Water Planning Lab around developing local governance strategies that are consistent with the provisions for Water Sustainability Plans within the BC Water Sustainability Act.
